Susan Hall's memoir begins and ends on the beautiful Rugged Northern California peninsula of Point Reyes where her imagination was first awakened as a child and continues to enthrall viewers with its poetic vision. River Flowing Home has over 20 full color plates of paintings from Susan's artistic career and over 100 photos and plates of art work and sketches from her life. With humor and inspiration she shares with the reader 50 years of life experience as an artist. Art processes that helped her come to the core of her artistic self are described in detail as well as experiences that contributed to her personal growth. Susan Hall is an artist who has shown her work in museums and galleries for over 40 years. She was born and raised in West Marin in Northern California and moved to New York City where she continued her artistic pursuits. In 1992 she returned to West Marin where she now lives with her husband on the family property where she grew up. Ms. Hall has had one-person shows at the Whitney Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and has received two fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts as well as a Gottleib Grant. She has shown her work at the Paule Anglim Gallery in San Francisco, the Nancy Hoffman Gallery in New York City, and has had many exhibitions in Boston and Los Angeles.
