Overview
Cameron + Company, Inc. is a full-service book publishing and distribution company based in Petaluma, California, which offers independent publishers an environmentally sensitive solution to its distribution needs. Founded by Robert Cameron in 1964 as a publisher of high quality aerial photography books, Cameron + Co. seeks to incorporate sustainable materials and techniques into the distribution process in order to reduce the ecological imprint in an otherwise inefficient and wasteful industry.
Sales/Marketing
Cameron + Company’s books are sold throughout the U.S. with a combination of in-house and independent sales reps, covering all national and key accounts, including the chains, wholesalers, clubs and online retailers. Cameron + Co. coordinates the entire production process of its seasonal catalog, which highlights its client publishers’ new (frontlist) titles and also includes the entire backlists of each publisher. These catalogs are then sent out to current and prospective accounts and used as selling tools by the sales team. In addition to the catalogs, Cameron + Company also works closely with its client publishers in regards to publicity and advertising promotions, including author events and co-op.
Shipping
Cameron + Company utilizes the most eco-friendly packaging materials available, including previously used boxes and packing paper when possible, in order to cut down on its own carbon footprint. At the same time, Cameron + Company retains a commitment to delivering its products in pristine condition to its valued customers.
Billing
As a full-service sales and distribution company, Cameron + Company handles accounts receivable for its client publishers. Cameron + Co. issues checks quarterly to its client publishers based on net sales (gross sales minus returns, not to include sample/review copies).
Storage
Cameron + Company will determine, along with the publisher, the appropriate number of books to be warehoused. Any additional books above and beyond this number will be assessed a storage fee (which will be mutually agreed upon prior to any fees being charged to the publisher).
